Shortly after passing under a concrete road bridge turn right over Canal Bridge 49 immediately after Bagnall Lock and continue ahead past some garages on the left (ignoring the public footpath sign on your right). The ACT Centenary Trail and the Bicentennial Trail run through the forests connecting the Arboretum to greater Canberra.
