Injuries: Several toys and pumpkins were turned and thrown cyclonically towards the west. A church was damaged near the intersection of Broadway and KY 933. The funnel lifted northeast of Bedford. Next, a 2-story house had some roof damage and a porch on the lee side of the house had a column fly out and land in a field 50 yards away. Path width: 100 yards At this locationa heavy metal chain fence weighing several hundred pounds was picked up and thrown 30 yards into the back of the house causing significant damage. The tornado then traveled over a ridge and intensified as it hit State Route 135 at Dutch Creek Road. A house and a metal silo were destroyed. Notes: This tornado touched down near Columbia. This included several mobile homes totally destroyed, several framed houses heavily damaged, tremendous tree damage, and power poles snapped and shredded. On October 25, , 1844 a tornado struck near present-day Mission, Kansas and into Missouri damaging or destroying a number of farms. There was minor damage along Inverness Avenue northeast of Iroquois Park. Some roofs on the southwest side of Nicholasville had the tin rolled or twisted toward the northeast. Injuries: Injuries: 0 January 10, 2008 May 18, 1995 When a tornado passes over a hilly country, it sometimes rages with destructive violence on the hill-tops, while objects in the intermediate valleys are entirely uninjured, showing that a violent whirl-wind may prevail at moderate elevation, but without reaching the earths surface. Two other barns were also damaged or destroyed, and many trees were uprooted or damaged. SPC and NCDC give a time of 3:00pm, Grazulis and Storm Data give 4:00pm. Deaths: 0 It appears this tornado should be listed as Marshall/McCracken rather than McCracken/Madison. Leaving town, the tornado restrengthened and demolished a barn and a nearby house, and unroofed several homes three miles from Elizabethtown on US 62, where the twister grew to a quarter mile wide.
