Popcorn Sutton, rather of spending the rest of his life in prison, tragically committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning in his Ford pickup truck, which he owned. He manufactured moonshine from a family recipe that had been passed down for 100 years and sold it out of the back of his Ford Model A truck. He claimed that moonshine production was a valid part of his legacy since he was of Scots-Irish descent and descended from a long line of moonshiners, which he stated was a legitimate part of his lineage.
